In todays lesson we discussed social networking and linking it to our online portfolio's. On my online portfolio i have linked Facebook, Twiiter, Deviant art, blogger and Coroflot i have put these all into my portfolio because these are all social networks i use on a regular basis.

I have also created a page on Facebook specifically to promote myself and then dropped the link into my footer. I've also put my rss feeds onto my homepage so that viewer can see what I'm currently doing.

when designing my portfolio i wanted the main font to be simple and easy to read so thats why i choose the font "Arial". When creating my logo i experimented with various fonts what i found on the internet like MV boil, Comfortaa, Billy Argent Font, Evolution all off on dafont.com after searching and experimenting i came to a decision that the Billy Argent font best sutterd the design, this font doesnt work on the internet so in order to have it on my portfolio i had to design it on Photoshop and save it as a png file.

Also after i decided this was the font i wanted to use whilst look for inspiration and ideas i cam across this vintage ribbon on deviant art and created by ARTiK-NL link;

This led me into re-designing my logo

Here is the layout and themes i am going to use throughout my website. Some areas still need to be worked on. I have placed a big image gallery at the top of my page showing my best work so that it should intice the viewer to stay on my site.

But after showing it to shaun he stated that it looked generic. With the feedback i received i went on to look
at other designers on the web; spoon graphics, Lewis Bilsland, I decided to change the theme making it look a lot more appealing.

Branding

We brand ourselves on a daily basis through how we act, speak and look. Most of us do it unintentionally, unaware of the messages we send out. It is only when someone we know and respect says 'that doesn't seem like you' over something we've done or said that we get a glimpse of this continuous process.

In the design world most but not all design stick to particular style of design, For instance David Shrigely is a designer and his style is more a messy sketchy effect.

This screenshot from his homepage shows that even with his website he has stuck to the same effect with the navigation on the right hand side, being in a sketch font. and how the content further down looking jumbled up and not in a traditional way, were that the content is aligned on every page.

Also after speaking to Shuan and showing him my website he stated that my designer identity name ( menace creations) is of putting. so after researching a little online i have decide to just stick with my name although Leigh Hattersley doesn't sound very appealing. it will help me promote my name in the multimedia industry.
